First launch and software configuration

When you first launch the program in the browser window you need to click the “Open Vinteo Desktop application” or “Connect using Vinteo Desktop” button.

Also when you first launch or when connecting a new device a notification appears:

Then in the connection settings window you need to enter the name and click the call button.

In the connection settings you need to specify the display name without filling in the connection address - the “Skip” button will become active. When you fill in the fields with the connection address and name the “Done” button becomes active. Also in the initial menu you can perform authorization.

Software configuration

During further configuration a window with four tabs is displayed: “User settings”, “Connection configuration” “Device configuration” and “Additional settings”.

Initialization of the connected built-in peripheral equipment occurs: webcam and sound recording/playback devices. Then you are prompted to enter the server address, registration data and configure the peripherals. Devices assigned in the system by default will be selected.

On the “User settings” tab in the “Display name” field you can change the account name by clicking on it. In the required field enter the new account name and click the “Done” button.

In this same tab there is the ability to set an avatar.

You can also select the photo area for display in the avatar and zoom the image. Then you need to click the “Save” button on the right at the bottom.

When attempting to set an image of the maximum allowable size as an avatar a loading indicator appears in the upload area.

“Connection configuration” tab

On the “Connection configuration” tab profile settings are available: editing, adding a new profile and deleting an existing profile.

Profile editing/adding

To edit a profile you need to click on the arrow to the right of the profile name, in the figure this is the server address. On the profile settings tab you can edit the profile name and server address (fields are required).

You can also turn on/off the authorization toggle and change or add the account number and password. At the bottom of the tab there is the profile deletion button. For all settings made to be saved click the “Save” button at the top of the tab.

Adding a new profile is done by clicking the “Add profile” button. Further actions are similar to the profile editing procedure.

Without registration on the server you can only make outgoing anonymous calls to conferences. In this case the address book will be stored locally. To receive calls from conferences and/or from other accounts registration of the account on the server is required. The data must be requested from the server administrator.

Attention!

For Vinteo Desktop an account with WS type should be used.

If the account credentials (number and/or password) are incorrectly specified a warning about incorrect data entry will appear.

“Device configuration” tab

In this tab you can select the camera, required resolution, sound input/output devices and perform a sound test.

Access to device settings is done by opening the settings list of this tab.

  1. this setting allows you to select a camera or “No camera” mode; when a camera is installed you can see your own image with applied settings;
  2. resolution settings; the “Auto” resolution parameter sets 720p resolution. If this resolution is not available the program will select a lower resolution;
  3. “Advanced settings” - button clicking which opens a window with sharpness, saturation and brightness image settings. After setting the required parameters you need to click the “Done” button;

  1. the “Mirror display” toggle displays only the selfie image which will not affect the image in the conference;
  2. the setting allows you to activate the toggle with background blur functionality for the conference participant;
  3. the “Background replacement” toggle allows you to activate the functionality of replacing the participant’s background image with dark gray, there is also the ability to upload any image as a background, the size and format of the image do not matter, the program will adapt it automatically.

For the selected settings to be saved click the “Done” button on the right at the top.

Quick camera settings

Quick settings are available when clicking the button to the right of the button with the camera icon. The button opens a window with the settings described above.

Sound and microphone configuration

If you select “Voice and sound” in the device settings list access to sound and microphone settings appears.

Sound settings

In the sound settings block you can select speakers and set the sound level. To test sound playback devices there is the “Sound test” button. When you click it a melody will be played.

Microphone settings

In the microphone settings block you can select a microphone there is a linear indicator of the sound signal level. You can determine the activity at the input by it.

Echo cancellation - mechanism that removes echo from transmitted sounds to improve voice transmission quality. By default echo cancellation is enabled.

Noise suppression - toggle that removes extraneous noise.

For the selected settings to be saved click the “Done” button on the right at the top.

Quick microphone settings

Quick settings are available when clicking the button to the right of the button with the microphone icon. The button opens a window with the settings described above.

Checking device operation in the off state

Checking microphone and camera operation is available even in the off state - the microphone volume level and camera preview are displayed in the main and quick settings.

“Additional settings” tab

In this tab you can configure calls and presentation display, autostart, updates and notifications (settings are described in more detail here), as well as select the language (English, Russian, German, French, Spanish and Chinese). Access to settings is done by opening the settings list of this tab.

Call settings

In this block there is access to presentation settings, participant list and chat, the “Auto answer on call” toggle.

Presentation settings

Here there is a toggle that allows the participant to view the presentation in full screen mode.

Chat and participants

There are toggles when enabled which automatically open the chat and participant list. Without activating these toggles the chat and participant list will not be displayed.

Auto answer on call

Auto answer on call is a toggle that provides access to the setting for turning off the microphone during auto answer and the setting for displaying in full screen mode.

Launch and update

In this block there is the “Autostart” toggle which launches Vinteo Desktop when the system loads (Windows and MacOS), update settings with a field in which you can specify the server address for automatic updates, as well as a toggle that allows you to save settings when closing the application.

After performing all the above settings click the “DONE” button - Vinteo Desktop software will go into standby mode.
